Philadelphia Restaurant Review: Double Knot

I had very high expectations for Double Knot as it is owned by the same owner of my favorite restaurant: Sampan. I've been wanting to try this new restaurant for some time now since I had heard rave reviews about it.

I suggested Double Knot because I had family that was in town from Boston and we needed a place that everyone would enjoy. We were seated downstairs where the main part of the restaurant is- the interior reminds me of a sexy dark dungeon type feel with Japanese accents of course.

The best way to explain the food at this restaurant is Japanese tapas. We ordered about 20 things on the menu so we could all share and try a little bit of everything.

We ordered many kinds of robatayaki, which is essentially a method of cooking food by slow grilling it. I LOVED the skirt steak robatayaki- all of the meats were so tender and juicy. We also ordered the kobe beef, rib eye, short rib, scallop, smoked bacon- which were all AMAZING as well.

We also ordered some small plates such as the edamame dumplings and crispy brussel sprouts (which are both also offered at Sampan and you can never go wrong with these menu items)

The bacon yakisoba noodles were to die for. We actually ended up getting another order because they were THAT good. The bacon was incredible and if you like bacon it's a must try,

Another highlight of the meal was the gyoza. This dish was not your typical gyoza- as it was gyoza cooked into a large scallion pancake. The scallion pancake was so soft and tasty with a little bit of a kick.

The only downside of the meal was that we received all of the robatayaki before the small plates- I understand everything came out as it was ready, but I wish we had a little bit of everything together at the same time.

I also wish I had taken more pictures of the food but I was throughly enjoying the meal and forgot to snap some shots.

We absolutely LOVED every dish we got. I would recommend Double Knot any day. Definitely make reservations ahead of time if you plan on going!

More restaurants reviews coming soon xx.
